The Problem
Problems That Cause Serious Structural Damage
Water infiltration is the silent destroyer of industrial structures — address these four critical problems before they escalate into costly structural failures.
Concrete Seepage & Water Infiltration
Water ingress through walls, floors, and slabs causes structural corrosion, dampness, and costly repairs in factories, warehouses, and storage tanks.
Hairline Cracks & Joint Failures
Machinery vibration and thermal movement crack industrial slabs and joints, letting water and contaminants penetrate deep into the structure.
Chemical & Effluent Exposure
Harsh chemicals, oils, and effluents quickly degrade standard coatings, leaving industrial floors and containment areas unprotected.

How to Apply
From Prep to Protection — Your Complete Star Water Seal Industrial Application Guide
Follow these three steps for a seamless, long-lasting waterproof membrane
Surface Preparation
Remove all dust, dirt, grease, and loose particles. Wash with water and allow to dry to SSD conditions. Fill cracks with a cement-sand-Star Waterproof Exterior mortar (1:3:15%). Apply a 45° PMM fillet at all junctions, corners, and parapet walls — essential for a reliable waterproofing chemical for roof and surface applications.
Mixing & Applying
Mix powder with liquid polymer using a slow-speed mixer until smooth — no water dilution needed. Pre-wet the surface, then apply the first coat with a brush, roller, or trowel. Embed 45 GSM glass fibre mesh at fillets while wet. Apply the second coat after 6–8 hours in a perpendicular direction. Air cure for 3–5 days. For bathrooms, apply 2 coats on vertical walls and sprinkle coarse sand after the second coat for strong tile adhesion.
Roofs, Water Tanks & Swimming Pools
For roofs, overlay screed on foot-traffic areas after applying this concrete waterproofing compound. For water tanks, sprinkle coarse sand after the second coat for plaster anchoring. For swimming pools, apply 3 coats at 3 kg/m² coverage, each perpendicular to the previous with a 6–8 hour gap. Sprinkle coarse sand on the wet third coat for maximum plaster adhesion.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Discover everything about Star Water Seal Industrial — the trusted concrete waterproofing compound for roofs, basements, water tanks, and industrial structures.
Which industrial structures require a concrete waterproofing compound?
Any structure exposed to water or hydrostatic pressure needs a concrete waterproofing compound — including factories, water treatment plants, chemical storage tanks, basements, retaining walls, industrial roofs, cooling towers, and effluent treatment plants. Star Water Seal Industrial is the trusted waterproofing chemical for roof and structural protection across all these applications.
Can it be used in water tanks, sewage treatment plants, and chemical storage areas?
Yes. Star Water Seal Industrial forms a dense, impermeable liquid waterproofing compound membrane that resists water pressure, chemicals, and microbial attack — making it ideal for water tanks, sewage basins, effluent channels, and chemical containment areas.
Can it be applied on both new and old concrete surfaces?
Yes. As a versatile concrete waterproofing compound, it bonds to freshly cast concrete and penetrates aged surfaces to fill micro-pores and bridge existing cracks — restoring full waterproofing without surface replacement.
Is it suitable for swimming pools and water retaining structures?
Yes. Apply three coats at 3 kg/m², each perpendicular to the previous with a 6–8 hour gap. Sprinkle coarse sand on the wet final coat for plaster adhesion. Star Water Seal Industrial creates a seamless liquid waterproofing compound membrane built for constant water immersion.
How long does it last?
When correctly applied, this concrete waterproofing compound lasts 8–10 years or more. Re-application every 7–10 years is recommended for structures under heavy water pressure or chemical exposure.
Is it resistant to chemicals, effluents, and industrial wastewater?
Yes. Its polymer-modified matrix resists dilute acids, alkalis, and industrial effluents — making it the preferred liquid waterproofing compound for chemical plants, effluent treatment facilities, and drainage channels where standard coatings fail.
How many coats are required?
Two coats for standard applications (roofs, bathrooms, basements). Three coats at 3 kg/m² for high-demand areas like swimming pools and water tanks. Each coat of this waterproofing chemical for roof and structural use must be applied perpendicular to the previous with a 6–8 hour gap.
What is the drying and curing time?
Allow 6–8 hours between coats. After the final coat, air cure for 3–5 days. Use moist hessian in direct sunlight. This curing process is essential for full membrane strength of the concrete waterproofing compound.
Does the surface need priming?
No primer needed in most cases. Simply clean the surface, remove oil and dust, and pre-wet to SSD (Saturated Surface Dry) conditions. This ensures the liquid waterproofing compound bonds deeply rather than sitting on the surface.
Can it be applied in wet or damp conditions?
Yes — on damp surfaces at SSD conditions. Avoid application during active water flow, rain, or freezing temperatures, as these affect adhesion and curing of the concrete waterproofing compound.
Does it comply with BIS or international standards?
Star Water Seal Industrial is manufactured in compliance with quality benchmarks for polymer-modified cementitious waterproofing chemical for roof and structural use, aligned with applicable IS codes. Contact Starshield Paints for project-specific test reports.
Is it low VOC and safe for enclosed industrial spaces?
Yes. Water-based and low VOC, it releases no harmful fumes — safe for basements, tunnels, tanks, and enclosed areas. Non-toxic once cured, making it a responsible liquid waterproofing compound for any industrial environment.
