Applying Star Foundation Seal is straightforward
Surface Preparation
Ensure the surface is clean, sound, and free from dust, loose particles, laitance, oil, grease, and other contaminants. Pre-wet the substrate to a Saturated Surface Dry (SSD) condition, and repair cracks, pinholes, and depressions using Star Foundation Seal modified mortar (1 part cement, 1.5 parts silica sand, 0.5 part Star Foundation Seal).
Mixing & Application
Mix 2 parts cement with 1 part Star Foundation Seal by weight, always adding cement gradually into the liquid, and stir until a smooth, homogeneous slurry is obtained. Apply the first coat over the SSD surface, embed fibre mesh into the wet coating, then apply a second coat to fully cover the mesh.
Protection & Curing
After the coating dries, protect it with a 15–20 mm thick polymer-modified protective plaster to prevent mechanical damage. Allow the coating to cure properly before exposing it to water or backfilling.
