Areas of Application
Acrylic Waterproofing Membrane with Transparent Lamination
Star Aqua Shield with Lamination
A flexible, crack-bridging acrylic waterproofing membrane finished with a transparent anti-graffiti lamination top-coat — for roofs and terraces that need to stay leak-free, stain-free, and glossy for years.
Star Aqua Shield with Lamination pairs two standalone StarShield products on one surface: Star Aqua Shield, a flexible, single-component acrylic waterproofing membrane with excellent crack-bridging ability, topped with Star Lamination Shield, a transparent, anti-graffiti protective top-coat. The result is a waterproofed surface that stays leak-free and keeps that protection looking new — resistant to stains, graffiti, and UV yellowing for years longer than the membrane alone.
Star Aqua Shield delivers the core performance: a seamless, elastomeric membrane that bridges hairline cracks up to 0.3mm, resists UV and weather, reflects heat to keep interiors cooler, and is built on a low-VOC, water-based formula. Star Lamination Shield adds a second layer of everyday protection on top — repelling dust, oil, and graffiti, resisting scratches and scrubbing, and keeping that finish from dulling under UV exposure and daily wear. It's a versatile top-coat in its own right, so if you're weighing it for a different surface, its own product page covers that on its own terms.
Key Performance Benefits of Star Aqua Shield with Lamination
- Flexible, Crack-Bridging Membrane — Star Aqua Shield's elastomeric acrylic waterproofing bridges hairline cracks up to 0.3mm and moves with structural expansion.
- High Solar Reflectance — Keeps interiors cooler by reducing heat ingress while waterproofing the surface.
- UV & Weather Resistant Base Coat — Withstands sun, rain, and temperature extremes without degrading.
- Anti-Graffiti Lamination Top-Coat — Repels paint, ink, dust, and stains so marks wipe away instead of soaking into the membrane.
- UV-Stable, Non-Yellowing Gloss — The lamination layer locks in the membrane's finish instead of dulling under constant sun exposure.
- Oil, Grease & Chemical Resistant — The oleophobic lamination keeps dirt, oil, and mild acids from settling into the waterproofed surface.
- Scratch & Scrub Resistant Finish — The lamination shields the membrane from foot traffic, furniture, and heavy cleaning.
- Low VOC, Eco-Friendly Base — Water-based Star Aqua Shield is safe for occupied buildings and low-odour to apply.

The Problem
3 Hidden Waterproofing Problems That Put Your Building At Risk
Cracking, staining, and UV wear all shorten a waterproofing membrane's working life. Star Aqua Shield with Lamination is built to solve all three.
Leaks & Seepage From Cracked Roofs
Ordinary coatings can't stretch with structural movement, so hairline cracks reopen over time — letting water seep in and cause damp patches, peeling, and interior damage.
Waterproofed Surfaces Still Stain & Discolour
Even a properly waterproofed roof or terrace collects dirt, algae, and graffiti over time from foot traffic and weather exposure — leaving stains on a surface that's otherwise doing its job.
UV Exposure Dulls & Weakens The Membrane
Constant sun, rain, and temperature swings degrade exposed acrylic waterproofing over the years, dulling its finish and shortening its working life unless it's given extra protection.
Benefits
6 Powerful Benefits That Make Star Aqua Shield with Lamination the Ultimate Protected Surface
Star Aqua Shield with Lamination combines the flexible, crack-bridging waterproofing and heat-reflective performance of Star Aqua Shield with the anti-graffiti, non-yellowing, oleophobic protection of a transparent lamination top-coat.
Flexible, Crack-Bridging Waterproofing
Star Aqua Shield's elastomeric acrylic membrane bridges hairline cracks up to 0.3mm and moves with structural expansion. The transparent lamination top-coat sits on top of this flexible membrane without restricting it.
Anti-Graffiti, Stain-Free Surface
The transparent lamination top-coat repels dust, oil, paint, and graffiti, so marks and stains wipe away instead of settling into the waterproofed surface — keeping it looking freshly finished for longer.
UV-Stable, Non-Yellowing Gloss
The lamination layer is formulated to resist yellowing and dulling under constant sun exposure, keeping the surface's finish consistent for years rather than fading the way conventional clear coats do.
High Solar Reflectance, Cooler Interiors
Star Aqua Shield's high solar reflectance reduces heat ingress through the roof, helping keep interiors cooler while it waterproofs — a benefit the lamination top-coat helps preserve over time.
Oleophobic & Chemical Resistance
The lamination top-coat repels oils, grease, and fingerprints while resisting acids, solvents, and harsh chemicals — so the surface stays cleaner with far less scrubbing.
Low VOC, Long-Lasting System
Star Aqua Shield's water-based, low-VOC formula is safe for occupied buildings, and together with the lamination's added protection, the combined system needs far fewer recoats than the membrane alone — lowering maintenance cost over its working life.
How to Apply
How to Apply Star Aqua Shield with Lamination in 3 Stages
This is a two-part system — Star Aqua Shield goes down first, then the lamination top-coat seals and protects it once fully cured.
Prepare & Apply Star Aqua Shield
Clean the surface until it is dry and free of dust, oil, grease, or loose particles, and fill any cracks with a polymer-modified mortar. Mix Star Aqua Shield and apply two or more coats by brush, roller, or sprayer, each perpendicular to the last, with a 4-hour interval between coats.
Let the Membrane Cure
Allow Star Aqua Shield to fully cure before applying the lamination top-coat, so it bonds to a completely dry, hardened waterproof membrane.
Apply the Lamination Top-Coat
Mix the lamination's two components at a 4:1 ratio and apply with a brush, roller, or spray in two coats, each perpendicular to the last, to seal the surface with its protective, non-yellowing finish.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Star Aqua Shield with Lamination?
It's a two-part surface system that combines the flexible, crack-bridging acrylic waterproofing of Star Aqua Shield with the transparent, anti-graffiti protective top-coat of Star Lamination Shield — giving you a leak-free surface that also resists stains, graffiti, and UV yellowing.
Why add a lamination top-coat to a waterproofing membrane?
Star Aqua Shield already delivers flexible, crack-bridging waterproofing and UV resistance, but everyday dirt, algae, and graffiti can still stain the exposed surface over time. The lamination layer adds anti-graffiti and stain protection on top, keeping the membrane looking new for longer with less maintenance.
Does the lamination top-coat affect the membrane's flexibility or crack-bridging ability?
No. Star Aqua Shield's elastomeric flexibility and crack-bridging performance come from the base membrane itself, and the transparent lamination is applied as a thin protective layer on top without restricting that movement.
Does this system still waterproof effectively with the lamination added?
Yes. Star Aqua Shield forms the seamless waterproof membrane, and the lamination top-coat reinforces that protection against everyday staining and weathering without compromising the waterproofing itself.
Does the lamination top-coat resist graffiti and stains?
Yes. The lamination layer repels paint, ink, dust, oil, and fingerprints, so marks and spills wipe away instead of soaking into the surface — useful for terraces, podiums, and walkways exposed to foot traffic.
Will the lamination yellow or lose its gloss over time?
No. The lamination is UV-stable and formulated to resist yellowing and dulling, keeping the surface's finish consistent for years rather than fading the way conventional clear coats do.
How soon can the surface return to service after application?
Star Aqua Shield needs a 4-hour interval between coats and should fully cure before the lamination top-coat goes on. Once both layers are applied and cured, the surface is ready for normal use.
Which surfaces is this system suitable for?
Star Aqua Shield is suitable for roof slabs, terraces, balconies, exterior walls, parapet walls, expansion joints, water tanks, and basements — and the combined system with lamination is well suited to any of these areas that see foot traffic, dirt, or graffiti exposure.
Is this system eco-friendly and safe for occupied buildings?
Yes. Star Aqua Shield is a low-VOC, water-based acrylic waterproofing membrane with minimal odour, making the base layer suitable for homes, schools, and hospitals before the lamination top-coat is applied.
Does the lamination top-coat need to be reapplied separately over time?
The lamination layer can be refreshed on its own as a maintenance recoat without redoing the base Star Aqua Shield membrane, which is one of the advantages of the two-part system — you protect and renew the surface without touching the waterproofing layer underneath.
Can Star Lamination Shield be used with other products, not just Star Aqua Shield?
Yes. Star Lamination Shield is a standalone transparent top-coat, not something built exclusively for this waterproofing system. It can be applied over walls, metal, and a range of other painted or coated surfaces wherever extra stain, scratch, or UV protection is needed — this page covers its combination with Star Aqua Shield specifically.
